It’s over- The death of the Tarawera Miler dream

January 25, 2018June 17, 20181 Comment

And just like that it was gone. I sat there trying to look unfazed. I maintained eye contact. I smiled. I thought to myself, this is what they mean when they say that the person receiving the bad news is not actually listening. See, I’m receiving bad news and I’m thinking about Meredith Grey doing … Continue reading It’s over- The death of the Tarawera Miler dream

I stopped running and I didn’t die

January 21, 2018June 17, 20182 Comments

I stopped running for a week and I didn't die! I had to go back into the archives of Strava all the way back to June 2015 to find a week without running. I had a run a 50k the week before and I guess I took a week off. I don't remember it. Honestly … Continue reading I stopped running and I didn’t die

Two Bays 56k Trail Ultra- race recap

January 20, 2018January 20, 20183 Comments

There are some races that people just bleat about. Oh the course is so amazing, the views are epic, the volunteers are incredible, the medals are the best ever, I’m sure you’ve heard it all before. The Two Bays Trail run, comprising of a 28K one way and a 56 K round trip option on … Continue reading Two Bays 56k Trail Ultra- race recap

Tarawera Miler Training Diary-Week 8- Ouch and Oops

January 15, 2018June 17, 2018Leave a comment

There is nothing worse than someone telling you “I told you so”. It’s infuriating, frustrating and generally speaking quite annoying and a little patronizing.   So two weeks ago when things started to fall off the wagon and I felt tired and a little run down, I chalked it up to what it feels like … Continue reading Tarawera Miler Training Diary-Week 8- Ouch and Oops

Injured with 32 days to go!

January 9, 2018June 17, 20182 Comments

Breathe, breathe, in, out, in, out. I am running my first 100 mile race in 32 days. And I have a niggle. A big one. Breathe out. You know what's a little funny (but not really), I've never had an injury before. A little bit (or a lot of) soreness but never an actual injury. … Continue reading Injured with 32 days to go!

Tarawera Miler Training Diary Week 7- Off the wagon

January 7, 2018June 17, 2018Leave a comment

Marathon training has it's ups and downs. This week, week 7 of Tarawera Miler training was a down. A long list of downs. With only 34 days to go, I didn't really want to have a crappy week. I had taken it easy during the You Yangs New Years Rock around the Clock marathon, walking … Continue reading Tarawera Miler Training Diary Week 7- Off the wagon

Tarawera Miler Training Diary- Week 6

January 6, 2018June 17, 2018Leave a comment

I know I know. Last week I said I was going to be better. Well I wasn’t. It’s now 10am Saturday, it’s going to be 43 degrees (110 F) and I’m sitting around waiting for the weather for change. Yep! I’d two coffees and a mango deep into a Grey’s Anatomy marathon. I’m sure I … Continue reading Tarawera Miler Training Diary- Week 6

Celebrating Global Running Day by showing off my commemorative running art! Because medals, tshirts, caps and tattoos isn’t enough!!! Quick trip to Halls Gap requires a few recovery hikes. Starting from scratch again sucks but at least it can only get better from here! No pics of the “weights” I lifted and put back down because they are too sad (and baby pink) for the gram! Can we cancelled baby pink please? There is nothing good about it Some snips from UTA, my goal of taking heaps of photos was kinda impeded by having my go pro on the wrong settings from the get go and not being as proficient with the mini that doesn’t have a screen. Next time??? 😉 My goal for UTA 100 was to enjoy the course, take lots of pictures and treat it as a “one and done” once in a lifetime experience. #medalmonday or should I say UTA Bronze buckle Monday? T minus 2 sleeps…. Road trips are way more fun in theory! Holy Hume Batman! But we made it to Katoomba!!! Hopefully this time next week I’ll be sitting on the couch with a hot chocolate in one hand and an Ultra Trail Australia 100km finishers buckle in the other!
