I’ve worn the same brand of running shoe since 2019.
I’ve been a loyal customer. At one point, even an ambassador.
But the shoes changed and not for the better. It was frustrating and confusing. (See my rant here!)
I wanted to shop around and look for something else but I was scared. I was worried if I changed I would get injured but I also felt like I was somehow betraying a million dollar company who couldn’t give two shits about me, my running or my business.
To be honest, I felt like I was the girl refusing to leave the shitty relationship despite all my friends telling me I deserved better and should put myself first. But here’s me in the corner, singing about burning down John Mayer’s house.
Lately I’ve found myself a bit injured. My google searching and Instagram crowd sourcing suggests it’s probably ITB syndrome.

And whilst I have struggled to see a professional for a diagnosis (on account of them cancelling three appointments!) I figured now is as good a time as any to try out some different shoes.
I did some google and YouTube research and found lots of physios and podiatrists recommending the Brooks Glycerine (among others) for ITB issues
So I headed down to my local running store to try on some Brooks, Mizuno and Saucony shoes and came away with a pair of Brooks Glycerines.

I’ll see how I go with them tomorrow.
So I’m officially declaring this my slut era, loyalty and monogamy be damned! Hit me up with your shoe recommendations!

Been using Inov8 Trailfly G300s, on my 3rd pair. but after my experience at the weekend, may never wear them again! My poor feet are shredded. Had to hike the last 50 miles on super sore feet, and post race they are agony! 😭
Need to find something comfier. The quest for the perfect long-haul trail shoe continues…
Oh no! Did they change them? Or different conditions, like temperature? It’s so frustrating hey! Hope you find something that works. I’m both excited and nervous to find my new fave pair
Same design, far as I can tell. I think hot sweaty feet, winter socks (in 30+degrees, outrageously hot for UK), dust in my shoes, rock hard trails with zero give in them, all conspired to make a blister friendly environment. If not for my crew I may well have DNFd at 75 miles. They basically ignored me. 😀
